This is Coach Ketcham.com  (the real one)

My name is Brian Ketcham. This is my sixth year at Hillwood Middle School.  (feels like the first still) After graduating from Fossil Ridge, I attended THE University of North Texas with a major in History.  I am very excited to be teaching here! My classroom is a fun, exciting, and always a surprise as to what will happen next.  This is also my first year I am not coaching, but am looking forward to spending more time in the classroom and with my family. I was always a teacher who coached, not a coach that taught.

A little about me.  I love America, Baseball, Tivo, History, my wife Trista, and my son Ben (age 3).  Maybe in that order...  Trista and I got married on August 4th 2007.  We have no pets because we have a kid and he is enough work.  If I could have dinner with any 6 people in History, I'd eat Taco Johns and drink Cherry RC Cola, and finish with a DQ blizzard with Ben Franklin, Teddy Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, Babe Ruth, George Washington, and Abe Lincoln.  Now that would be a party.  Can you even fathom that for a minute?  I am from Minnesota and love the Twins and still have a special place for the Rangers.  Did I mention I love baseball?

I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.  One time. using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants.

I'd suggest your child pay attention in my class, they could win some serious quiz show money from the information in my class. Also, I would cringe if I saw any of them on Jay Leno's Jaywalking and not know who the 1st Preisident was.

If you EVER have ANY problem, question, or concern, PLEASE contact me. My phone number is (817)-744-3350 EXT. 1402. I will be honest with you, I never check my voicemail. The best way to get a hold of me is thru e-mail me at Brian.Ketcham@kellerisd.net. I check that all the time.

Who you gonna call? TRUSTBUSTER!  This man is so cool, he got shot in the heart while giving a speech, finished the speech, then went to get medical attention.  He also rocks the same moustache as my dad.

"All of us are gonna die someday.  For those of us who are lucky it'll be a quick and painless death.  But for the rest of us it'll be slow and painful, just like a conversation with you."

"Do you even remember what you were doing the day they were passing out common sense?"

"I don't mind being held to a higher standard. I mind being held to a lower one. "

Remember kid, there's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die, follow your heart kid, and you'll never go wrong.

Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.

Loyalty is a two way street.

When you see yourself doing something badly and nobody’s bothering to tell you anymore, that’s a very bad place to be. Your critics are your ones telling you they still love you and care.

No one is pure evil. Find the best in everybody. Wait long enough and people will surprise and impress you.

American history
Our history is not a story of perfection. It's a story of imperfect people working toward great ideals. This flawed nation is also a really good nation, and the principles we hold are the hope of all mankind. When children are given the real history of America, they will also learn to love America.
Our Founders believed the study of history and citizenship should be at the core of every American's education. Ignorance of American history and civics weakens our sense of citizenship. To be an American is not just a matter of blood or birth; we are bound by ideals, and our children must know those ideals.
About my Class...
American History to 1865 is the survey of American history from the founding of the first permanent English settlements in North America through the present day. This course focuses on the political, philosophical, and economic currents, from the establishment of English colonies in North America through the end of the Civil War.
