June 9th -

8:00 - Woke up and had breakfast... some of them slept... some did not, well see how today goes....

(breakfast club)

After waking up, we went to the capital and got our photo taken by Grant's statue.  then we went into the capital and saw where the party was.

(Laine, Chandler, Raina in line at the capital)

After an awesome tour of the capital and seeing where everyone works, and all the statues from all the states.  It was pretty sweet!

Some fun things we learned…

·         No one is buried in the Capitol. A tomb area was created for George Washington's body, but Washington's will expressed his wish to be buried at Mount Vernon, and that is where he is buried.

·         The custom of flying the flags 24 hours a day over the east and west fronts was begun during World War I.

·         The top of the U.S. Capitol is 209 feet lower than the Washington Monument.

·         The U.S. Capitol Dome is made of 8,909,200 pounds of cast iron.

·         The Rotunda, used for inaugurations and distinguished individuals lying in state, is a circular room located on the second floor. It is 96 feet in diameter and rises 180 feet from the floor to the canopy.

11:00 the kids were getting tired and hungry, but we pressed on….

(Cooper, CJ, Clyde, Domovich, Ty)

11:15 Then we went to the library of Congress and say all sorts of smart people books.  So more fun stuff we learned

-          The Library was founded in 1800, making it the oldest federal cultural institution in the nation. On August 24, 1814, British troops burned the Capitol building (where the Library was housed) and destroyed the Library's core collection of 3,000 volumes.

-          On January 30, 1815, Congress approved the purchase of Thomas Jefferson’s personal library of 6,487 books for $23,950.

-          The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with nearly 142 million items on approximately 650 miles of bookshelves.

-          The Library receives some 22,000 items each working day and adds approximately 10,000 items to the collections daily.

-          Approximately half of the Library’s book and serial collections are in languages other than English. The collections contain materials in some 470 languages.

We then went to the Supreme Court.  Kids say there first political protest outside.  It is a beautiful building, and it was neat.  By this time, these kids were starving...

12:00 - We went to the Museum of Air and Space.  First thing first, LUNCH.  They looked SOOOO hungry.

Above Matt

12:30 - 4:44 After that we went all around the museum and saw such things as the Wright 1903 Flyer, the first engine-powered airplane, the Spirit of St. Louis, the plane used by Charles Lindbergh on the first transatlantic flight in 1927 and the Apollo 11 Command Module which carried astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin on their mission to the moon in 1969.

Above: Matt, Ben, Ryan

Below: is the clicky magnets... someone I know would love these, someone else i know would hate me...

5:00 - Immediately after that, we went to Holocaust Museum.  It was very interesting/depressing/and sad all in one.  We literally were there until 6:20 when it closed.  The museum used things such as a boxcar and a barracks, artifacts such as shoes, eyeglasses, suitcases, and concentration camp uniforms and insignia, and photographs, recorded oral histories, and documentary films to follow the Holocaust's stages of isolation, deportation, and extermination and immerse viewers in the lives and fates of victims. Several things made us sick to our stomach and several people tear up.

7:00 Afterward, we went to dinner at Hamburger Hamlet, kind of like a Bennigans/Chile’s/Red Robin.  It was decent.  My cheeseburger was dry, but I was starving.  Too bad I dropped 85lbs of ketchup on my pants.  L

(Devyn, Ryan, Ben, Pamela, Vicky, Nancy, Elizabeth, Zac, and Tyler)

After dinner, and a trip to a grocery store to buy candy, we went to the Jefferson memorial.  It was right at sunset and beautiful.  It was a neat thing to see, and in a perfect spot. Fun facts about the Jefferson memorial…

-          Since metal was being rationed during the Second World War, a plaster statue of Jefferson was created instead. After the war, the plaster statue was replaced by a 19ft / 6m tall statue in bronze.

-          The interior walls are engraved with inscriptions taken from the Declaration of Independence and from other writings.

(vd  (Laine way to the side, Me, Kerri, Jaclyn, Hafner)

-          The Jefferson Memorial is located at the south side of the Tidal Basin and surrounded by the cherry blossom trees. They had to cut some down in order to make the monument.  So, of course, protesters chained themselves to the trees. So the White House brought them lemonade, glass after glass of it.  So, when they went to the bathroom, the cut down the trees they were unchained to.  Hehe....

(   ( (This homely bunch)

(Courtney, Matt, Abby, Elizabeth, Chandler, Raina, Laine, Zac, Anthony)

Afterwards, around 9:30, we got back to the hotel.  One of the boys clogged a toilet… shocker.  Couldn’t have a night free of problems could we?

Raina, Laine, Devyn, and Chandler are making Washington D.C. party video; they just wanted that on the blog.  They also said their feet hurt ALL day.  Sounds like a whiner.

(Zac, Ryan, and I think ben and Domovich behind the pillar.)

Zac, Ben, Matt, Tyler say their favorite part of the day was… Air and Space Museum.  Ben, Ryan, and Zac said the flight simulator was AWESOME.

Lindsey, Elizabeth, Courtney, and Tayo said their favorite part of the day… Lindsey got to see the dome of the gods and goddess in the capital.  Elizabeth loved the library of congress, “because it was cool”.  Courtney loved the Jefferson Memorial.  Tayo is asleep, so she has no comment until tomorrow.  Lindsey is eating sunflowers seed currently.

These kids won't shut up all day, but if you ask for a sound bite, nothing!!!!!!!!!!

Until Tomorrow... remember, I'm Coach Ketcham, and your not.

June 10th, 2009

GOOD MORNING, and in case I don't see you again, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Goodnight...

Scary thing... at 7:10, I see this ugly mug at my door...

(Clyde with a face ONLY a mother could love)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  Holy crap, that is not pretty to wake up to, I feel bad for his future wife.... or dog for that matter.

It is also this fools bithday today.  Happy 15th birthday goober!

Alright, time to get dressed and head up for breakfast.  Arlington National Cemetary here we come.

Peace Out...

Wednesday June 10, 2009

Woke up, with Clyde in my face… AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
8:00 – Breakfast, the kids were told to “eat up”.  They didn’t listen when I said it was going to be a LONG DAY.

8:45 – Left for Arlington national Cemetery

(changing of the guard)

We saw Lee house, Kennedy’s Grave, the changing of the guard, act.  The kids did really well, but were tired of stairs and REALLY hungry by 11:00 some fun things we learned...
-  Veterans from all the nation’s wars are buried here, from the American Revolution through Iraq and Afghanistan.
- more than 300,000 people are buried here, and approximately 6,400 burials are conducted annually
- We saw the tombstones of the crew of the Challenger Space Shuttle, President William Howard Taft and JFK and his Eternal Flame, which burns uninterrupted.

JFK and Jackie's tombstoen and eternal flame

(I said give me a evil face, that is Ben's evil face as he lights the fuse to kill Tyler (which by the way is Tylers scared face))

(Wait, don't lite that fuse, Tyler and Matt)

(RFK headstone the only one made of wood there)

11:45ish – Arrived at the Old Post Office
Kind of a rundown mall with crappy souvenir stores and a food court.  It does have a neat bell tower we all went up and saw.  Let me tell you about some of the “treasures” your children bought…

Belts buckles with a scrolling marquee that they can write a message.  Laser pointers I have already taken up, combs that look like knives I will be taking up, iPod headphones…  the crap list goes on, I am sorry, I tried.
At least you child isn’t Ty, unless Ty parents are reading this.  This goober was too busy talking when we told the kids how to use the lunch coupon and he spent his own money...  O well, I don’t feel bad for not listening.

(Ryan's crap only!  Don't worry, I'm sure your kid bought pure crap too :)   )

(In the Peterson House where lincoln's body was taken, Raina and Laine)

2:00 – Saw Ford’s theatre where Lincoln was shot.  The Park Ranger who describes it was AWESOME and grabs their attention from start to finish.  We then went across the street to the Peterson house where Lincoln’s body was carried.  In there we learned a ton of Lincoln assassination.

(the booth where Lincoln was shot, the couch is the orginal one.  Booths spur got caught on the blue flag in the middle as he jump and broke his leg.)

3:00-4:45 – Went to the Natural Science Museum, it was AWESOME!

5:00 – Dinner at Hard Rock…. Umm, The Worst service on earth.  On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a -7.  Booo Hard Rock, you are OUT next year.

Elizabeth and a large rock

(Nancy, Elizabeth, Tayo, and Anthony)

Two out of every 3 people have gum diesease.  (Anthony and Domo)

(Me and Coach John, I mean a grizzly bear.)

(I wish i would have packed my loin cloth, grr)

(Devyn, Zac, Anthony, Domo, Tyler, Ryan, Matt and some strange boy made of chocolate)

(Zac, Matt, Abby, Kerri, Ryan, Devyn, and the Blues Brothes Ben and Tyler) (Yes that is Tyler, he is either Sinatra or a 1920 newspaper writer.)

6:45 – We headed to the Twilight Taboo (Military Parade) but it was rained out, even though no rain.

7:00 – We went to the White House.  There is some homeless bum protesting nuclear war since 1981.  She and He haven’t ever left at the same time since 1981!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(White House at night)

8:00 – Kids want to go to the Hotel to hang out, I said your parents paid good money to see stuff, so we will

8:15 – FDR memorial.  I loved it, the adults loved it, some of the kids did…

8:30 – I want to go to the hotel…. I say, NOPE, we go to the Einstein Monument

9:00 – I want to go to the Hotel, NOPE we head to the Lincoln Memorial at night and it is beautiful.

(Right before the Rain)

9:07 – RAIN STARTS.  HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10:00 – Get back to the Hotel, I’m either loved or hated… o well, and we are all WET.

Side note, we went to the Holocaust Museum LAST NIGHT.  Thank God!  I still need to hear all that happened, but I told them to call you and say we are ok!  It was still blocked off at 10:00PM

Good Night World, Mount Vernon tomorrow

Thursday June 11th - On today agenda, Mount Vernon, Washington Monument, National Archives, White House During the Day, ect.

I've been trying to get the kids to do guest blogs, and most of them want to, until it is time to actually write it all down.

On a side note.  Between calling John Coryn, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, and even Rick Perry making a call, we still COULD NOT get in the White House.  Sorry, I tried everything I could.  They all said the new administration has slowed it all down.  We put our request in, IN OCTOBER!

Also, i have been complimented by so many people at how we behaved we are!  It makes me happy...

Without further ado..

Elizabeth has decided to do so today.  Thank you lord!

GUEST TYPER!  THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPHS WERE TYPED BY A GUEST TYPER!

GUEST TYPER = ELIZABETH HERRERA

So we went to go get tickets to go up Washington Monument.  I was so excited!!  Clyde, Mrs. Hafner, Ms. A, and Coach Ketcham went to go get tickets.   They left and when they came back THERE WERE NO TICKETS!!!!!!  I THOUGHT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE TRIP I WILL REMEMBER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!   Thanks Coach Ketcham for NOTHING!!

On a happier note we saw Mount Vernon!  That was beautiful!!  There was the most awesomest video ever!! With real snow and vibrating chairs and YAH!!  It was awesome!!

(Mount Vernon - Washington's House)

Washington and Family

Pyramid... You think the cheerleading coach would be better at setting this up..

Young George

(Kerri, Matt, and Abby)

We had another chance to go to the Washington Monument, but we would have had to leave Mount Vernon at a good time.  So I was excited again the day was saved!!  Me and my group were a little late, but I thought we would still be able to make it.  So I went and got on the bus.  I realized we were sort of missing some people.  I figured out it was the one and only coach Ketcham.   Oh well he should be out soon right?  Yah NO.  It took him FOREVER!!!!!!  By the time he and his group got out we were to late to make it to the monument.  They had 50 tickets left and by the time we got closer to wear the monument actually was there were 2 tickets left.  My biggest dream ruined AGAIN by coach Ketcham!!!!

(Elizabeth (guest blogger) and mom Nancy couldn't take any more, she had to nap.) (So was 1/2 the bus)

So we went and saw the Lincoln Memorial again!!  It was awesome.  I love that place!!  Mrs. A told us how if u look at the profile of Lincoln it looks like anther face.  It is rumored to be Lee looking at his house.  On the walls of the monument there are two speeches, and there is actually mess up!!!  It is in the word “Future”.  It says “Euture” so they tried rubbing the bottom line of the “E” out.

We also went to the Naval yard....  It was wayyy fun...

(Gortan's Fisherman - Cooper)

(What is in here)

(hehehe)

We also went to the Vietnam and Korean Memorial.  Those were awesome too.  Really short so not a whole lot to say about those.

Korea Memorial (fought over the 38 parallel, 19 soliders that reflect into the wall, making 38)

Vietnam memorial (look at the detail in the men, and they are looking at the wall of names)

Yep yep. That’s pretty much it.  It was the funnest trip ever (EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T GET TO GO TO THE WASHINGON MONUMENT OR INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE) and I am soooooooooooooooooooooo

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad it is over.

GUEST TYPING = OVER

THANK YOU GUYS FOR READING!!!  I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A SHOUT OUT TO MY MOMMY, MY DADDY, MY SISTER, MY DOG, AND MY FRIENDS, HELEN BAE, ALEXIS NGUYEN, CHRISTINE SANTIAGO!!!   I HAD FUN TYPING THE BLOG!

Why does a store for coach's have purses?

Believe me, i was just as shocked as you were.

SINNER!

BLUES BROTHER (Yes, they bought the hats and glasses)

June 12th...

Wow, we made it home!  Later then we thought by the time we got everyone out and about.  It was a great trip.  Let me go over the trip in details for the day.

Woke up at 6:50.  Got dressed and all packed.  Matt Peterson some how got maple syrup ALL over him at breakfast.  This will be a trend as he spills EVERY meal on his today.

We woke up, tried to get tickets to the Washington Monument, but didn’t get them until 6. So they did us no good.  We then made our way to the Washington National Cathedral.  It was beautiful.  The tour guide there was kinda mean, but it was a amazing.  Teddy Roosevelt laid the first stone in 1907 and it took over 80 years to finish.  It is so nice looking.

(girls bathroom line)

(Men's line Reason 1,203 it is great to be a man)

(National Cathedral.. and Raina)

(President Woodrow Wilson)

After that, we drove by and saw Embassy row.  We then went to the National Zoo.  It was awesome.  They had a lot of stuff closed at 12 for a special meeting at the zoo tonight.  We did get to see the Panda’s.  I can’t believe all we do for everyone in the world, and China will only LOAN us the Panda’s.  Like, we have to give them back. Suck it China.  Stupid China.  Somehow Matt got his sandwhich, drink, and chips all over him.  Haha.

(Hafner got knocked up on this trip (10 kids), when she wasn't killing African Animals for their ivory, Making illeagal immigrant give her showers and clean her house, and working the strip joints)

(we match....)  (Chandler, Laine, Raina, Kerri, and Abby)

(O no, we are upside down) (Abby, Kerri, Raina, Laine, and Chandler)

(looks like a lot of the kids on the bus)

(Herrera Inc.)

(when he isn't at Fredricks of Hollywood, he has girls all over him.)

(Tayo and Lindsey, right after Lindsey fart....)

(Hafner (Preggo) and Courtney.... who might have hated me, or might have just pretended to)

(Hafner, Anthony, and a hug/choke/nuggie)

(Jaclyn and I)

(Who has too much money?)

(C.J. and I .... I don't know why I have my mouth open in all these photos, I smile like my 11 month old... see kids, don't have kids until you are ready to look dumb)

One of the coolest things, we went to the Walter Reed Medical Museum.  It was awesome.  We got to see the bullet that killed Lincoln, the human body, and we got to touch REAL human intenstines, brains, hearts, and liver.  We also saw the world biggest Hairball.  Gross.

(World largest hairball, some girl always ate her hair)

(Conjoined twins, yes they are real... all sorts of stuff like this there.)

(On the way home, Morris and Abby)

Then we headed to the airport.  Then we said goodbye to Mrs. A, and got through the line, with NO thanks to the American Airlines counter jerk face.  O well.  Once we got through security and the kids ate, we loaded up.  Of course, Ty lost his ticket, and I think I thought of leaving him at that point.  We found it and got him on the flight.  Got home, transferred some photos, and got ready for bed.

Overall, it was a GREAT TRIP!  The kids were fantastic and fun.  I think everyone had a wonderful time they will hopefully never forget.  :)

That is a REAL Heart, A REAL Laine, and a REAL Brain  (1 of the 3 work)

(The stupid wide open smile... me and hafner before she became "With child")

(Domovich was all inside out.)

(Chandler, Raina, Laine, and Hafner)

(Hank Ketcham.... get it... Ketcham.... O nevermind....  Love the quote and almost every kid took a photo for me)

These crack me up, she did this at EVERY statue in the museum (Ryan and Abby)

(HAHA told you) (token fat man, and Anny

Kerri, Abby, Matt, and Domo.

Guest Blogger Tyler Ward (Blues brother #1) (on the right)

It would take more then ½ a page to talk about all the things we did, but here is my list of the top 10 things.

10. Lincoln Memorial during the day.  It was good to see it without getting soaked!

9.  Pizzaria Uno.  That pizza was GOOD!  Especially the jalapeno.

8 . Playing  21  with  Ben,  Zac, Ryan and Nick at the hotel.

7.  Korean  Memorial.   The reflective was cool.

6.  National  Archives.    Seeing  the Declaration of  Independence was amazing (my mom says I can’t say                                 “cool”  again, have to use other words!).

5 . Naval  Yard.   The ship tour was really interesting.  I liked learning about life on the ship.

4.  Jefferson Memorial.   He is my favorite President.

3.   Air and Space Museum.    The space program exibit was astounding , fascinating, marvelous (didn’t use
                        cool!)

2.  Marine Memorial.    The optical illusion  of the flag raising was really cool (sorry mom, it was)

1.  Changing  of the guard at Arlington National Cemetary.    This was number one because I have read    about what the guards go through and I have always wanted to see them.

And thank  you coach Ketcham for being the chaperon on the trip and getting every thing lined up for us in Washington . I had a great time so thank you for that .

Tyler Ward

Guest Blogger Abby Aldrich.

Friday was a pretty sad day. We had to pack our things, then leave the hotel to go sightseeing for the last time. The trip was fantastic and everybody had a great time.

8:00- Breakfast on 11th floor. Food wasn't the best at the hotel, but when Coach Ketcham tells you to eat, YOU EAT!

8:30- Loaded the bus with luggage and headed to the Washington Memorial to get tickets. We got them! But it was at 6. And our flight took off at 6:45. Do the math. We didn't go.

9:00- Went to the Washington National Cathedral. Mrs. A made it really clear on not to drop our camera's because with the marble flooring, they would break! And guess what, I dropped mine. Of course something like that would happen to me. Keri dropped hers too.
(Washington Cathedral. It was so gorgeous!)

10:30- Went to the Washington Zoo. Pretty cool seeing the panda's sleeping. They looked like us when we were on the bus! Ate food at the food court and walked around a while looking at the rest of the animals.
(Matt getting a piggy back ride from Coach Ketcham at the zoo!)

3:30- Went to the Walter Reed Medical Museum. If you ask me, it was gross, but really cool! We got to touch real brains and intestines. Keri wouldn't touch them because they freaked her out!
Abby tasting a heart.

4:30ish- Started making our way to the airport. A lot of people were sad to be leaving and asked  Coach Ketcham to "accidentally" forget us so we had to stay a few more weeks. Would of worked too, if the parents would have been nice enough to pay for another weeks vacation. But nope.

6:30- Boarded for the plane ride back to Texas. Coach Ketcham played my moron test on my itouch most of the way home. Beat Keri's score of 86.7 and got a time of 76.7. If you asked me, he cheated. (Just kidding Ketchup!) Apparently Ryan fell asleep and was sleepwalking. People had to hold him down to keep him from moving. As you can tell, we were all tired and were happy to sleep in our own beds that night!

(Abby and Keri at the Lincoln Memorial)

Overall, the trip was fantastic. I will never forget it. Our group was awesome and we made many memories. Fire alarms in the hotel, to dancing and stripping in the rain. I would like to say thanks to Coach Ketcham, Ms. Hafner (pregnant lady) and the rest of the chaperone's for coming and making this a great trip!

Remember, I'm Abby Aldrich and your not! (Sorry Ketchup, sounds cool to say! ha)

THis is Chandler Funderburg
(In my defense, how I was suppose to know about African American teenage girl's hair and what rain does to it........  With that being said, I had tears of laughter rolling down my face when I read this.)

Oh Ketcham...
you told us to let you know if we had stories. Boy do I have a story.
Actually it's a poem. A poem called 'Destruction of an African American Teenage Girls Hair'

Destruction of an African American Teenage Girls Hair
By:Chandler Funderburg

I love Washington DC, lots of stuff to do.
like seeing Washington's wood teeth,
and going to the zoo.
But in everything you do,
something must go wrong.
It pours down rain,
I cry in vain,
And Ketcham sings a song.
Woa is me, my hair is jacked,
there's nothing left to do.
The straighteners suck,
I wanna die,
Ketcham, thanks to you.
It's not your fault you made it rain,
but please have common sense.
2 drops and my hair's in a hat,
that means i'm dropping hints.
but as usual, i must forgive.
Angry aint a way to live.
Ketcham you're so cool and "hip",
Thank you for an awesome trip.

Ben Taylor's take

Ben Taylor

The Air and Space Museum was the best!  I liked all of the planes and being able to get in the flight simulator.  The flight simulator goes upside down and two people could get in at a time.  I also liked The Old Post Office because it had a twelve story clock tower that you could go up in and they had a huge mall.  The battleship, Navy Museum and The Natural History Museum were good, too.  Oh and, Mount Vernon was pretty awesome because it was huge, had a really cool life-like movie, and we got to see were Washington is buried.

The funniest thing that happened was when somebody put the fake plants from the hotel lobby in the elevator.

I wish that we could have gone in the Washington Monument and the White House.  I also wish that I had brought a bigger memory card and that we had been able to stay longer.

    Lindsey Bartle

Ketcham-

I absolutly loved D.C.!!! I loved every part of it!! I wish we could have stayed longer! Why didn't we stay longer?! Anyway! I made a lot of new friends! But the good part is, is that I already knew most of them!! Haha! But my fav. part was the zoo!! I had sooo much fun and it was sooo funny!! I loved how the tiger and panda only came out and posed for us!! Haha it was hillarious!! And I liked the monkeys!! They were sooo cute!! And small!! Haha! And I thought it was the funniest thing when Matt kept spilling his food ALL over him self!! Haha! But I have to say, the funniest part of the trip was Courtney and her secret lover CJ!! It was sooo funny!! I wish I would have gotten a video of it!! UGH!! Now I'm upset that I didn't!! But maybe they'll both come to the Ice Cream Social!! That would be the funniest thing!!

I also loved the Capital! Loved the statues and the painting of the greek gods!! That was cool! And I loved SEEING the White House but not going INTO the White House!! Oh and the boys setting off the fire alarm while swimming!! It takes tallent to set of a FIRE alarm with WATER! Haha! Ironic!

But over all! The trip was awesome!! I absolutly loved it!!! Thanks for setting it up and I'm going to go next year!!!!!! Haha! I love y'all!!!

Overall I had a great time seeing all the great "attractions" of Washington.(expecially the white house and washington monument) I also I had a great time trying to keep up with mrs.A and wating 4 our bus.the hotel was also really kool I really liked the random fire drills and the stacking plants and also the only one working elevator. I also love that we got to get a lot of rest and relaxation. Also it amazed me that with all the unlucky things that happened we missed the holocaust incident by a day. Also all the incredibly stupid things ty did that you don't even know about. But in all seriousness I loved it and would go again.

P.s. I would like to congratulate mrs.haffner on her pregnancy and also I hope her slave trading buisness is sucessfull.

My favorite part of the D.C. trip was when we all got stuck in the poring rain. The Museum of Natural History was cool two. It made me mad that most of the exhibits at the zoo were closed, but the pandas were cute.I wish we could have gone up into the Washington Monument and gone into the White House. It wa still a fun trip.
(p.s. Ronald Reagan is not over rated.)

Here is my blog, it was kind of spurt of the moment writing. Hope it'll do :) - Devyn

There is so much I could write about on this blog, but I’m pretty sure I can’t even remember it all. I thought the group we had was amazing and everyone got along. I wouldn’t have added or gotten rid of anyone that went. Although we walked a minimum of 900 miles a day, it was well worth it. The best part was going to the zoo and seeing the animals. But I think BT should have stayed behind at the monkey exhibit :) And those creepy guys that followed us (RAINA) through the bird area. Wednesday- “Put your hands down; you don’t wanna look like Baylee Burdick.” or “I forgot to pack my loin cloth.” And saying POTATO TORNADO every other word (People ask me what it means, but honestly, I don’t even know). But don’t forget getting poured on at the Lincoln Memorial at 9:30 at night. The fact that my nice walking shoes got soaked in the rain made me just a little bit livid, but a great memory was created there. This trip will definitely be number one on my list for a while, especially since I was with all my 8th grade friends. Can’t wait until the ice cream social, and hopefully we can all hang out again after the 25th :)

If you have a blog or story from the trip, or will write something about it, please send it to me.. We'll figure out the Ice Cream social soon!
